Short Hills, New Jersey-based insurance agency Bollinger Inc. has acquired BK International Insurance Brokers of Greenwich, Connecticut.
The acquisition is the second this month and the fourth this quarter for Bollinger, which is one of the largest insurance agencies in the country.
BK International is the first Connecticut acquisition for the company. BK was founded in 1987 by John Betz and David Kimball, along with Shelley Levine and Frank Lyon. All four principals will join Bollinger as executive vice presidents. The BK offices will remain in Greenwich and David Kimball will act as chief operating officer of the branch.
BK specializes in handling complex commercial accounts, including those with international exposures. It also provides insurance through its School Insurance Group division to public and private schools with a concentration in downstate New York and Connecticut regions.
“Our respective firms have an excellent cultural match,” said Jack Windolf, chairman and chief executive officer of Bollinger.
In the last quarter, Bollinger has also acquired MPPi Inc., of Hazlet, New Jersey, The Gorga Agency, of Fairfield, New Jersey and Allied Insurance Services of Vineland, New Jersey. Along with BK International, the acquired agencies have combined commission revenues $9.8 million, according to Bollinger.
