wow! imagine that… question, was he at-fault for the accident? if not, how can he ask for disability or does workman’s comp pay out no matter who’s at-fault?

imagine all the cops that go on coffee breaks! who’s making the money now?

So……if I’m reading this correctly, the claimant could have driven to Daytona Beach for his Coffe Break, and it would still be a covered incident???

imagine – the most expensive coffee break that a company will ever have to pay and all apparently legal!

first thought – who was at-fault for the accident?

I agree with the judge and workcomp. Contractors are nothing more than truck drivers anyway. They drive from job to job, so this is just part of his everyday work detail. As for the person who made a comment about the police and coffee breaks, I would say they should be covered too. Do you really want them to drive back to the station for every break? I’d hope not as the drive to the station would probably cause more accidents and more work comp claims then stopping at the local McDonalds for a cup of coffee.

“It cannot be expected that he would stand like a statue or remain at the union hall with nothing to do for such a period …”

Are you kidding me? Who asked him to stand like a statue? New Jerseyians must be very big wussies if they cannot be expected to remain at a place with nothing to do. I bet there are some people in Haiti that would find this comment “funny”. Man, do we have it good in the US or what. Seriously, this judge needs a little perspective.
