The parents of two children whose aunt carried them onto a highway where all three were struck and killed, have sued a psychiatric hospital for allegedly failing to properly treat the woman’s mental illness.
Ken and Danielle Lambert of Brentwood, N.H. claim in the suit filed in Suffolk Superior Court that McLean Hospital provided inadequate care to Danielle’s twin, Marcelle Thibault, and is responsible for the deaths of their 5-year-old daughter, Kaleigh, and 4-year-old son, Shane.
The 39-year-old Thibault also was killed in January 2008 when she carried the children into traffic on Interstate 495 in Lowell.
A lawyer for the Lamberts tells The Boston Globe that no one at McLean told other family members about the risk Thibault might pose to others or herself.
A McLean spokeswoman had no comment.
