Huh. Maybe because he was elected, Coons helped to cause the problem, raising property taxes 5%, 17%, and 25% since he’s been in office.

Sounds like a local issue, and I certainly do not know what coons have to do with this. Shouldn’t Animal Control be taking care of them?

Many of the volunteer fire companies in New Castle County have extravagant facilities, compared to their paid professional counterparts in the city of Wilmington. These buildings cost a fortune to maintain and are in todays day and age a luxury for sure. And they are continuing to build new, larger and plusher facilities and purchase additional and newer, more expensive equipment than is necessary. Are the fires the volunteers fight worse or more numerous than the city firemen have to contend with?
The volunteers need to adopt some of the same practices as the ordinary citizens they serve like keeping your car a few years longer, delay that addition to the house, turn off those lights when you leave a room, lower the heat in the house and bundle up in the winter, open the doors and windows in the summer and turn off the air; less money for frivilous purchases, etc.
Sell off some of those big shiny trucks that never get out the door, rent some space in your building for extra dollars, cash in some of those investments. I support the efforts of the volunteer firemen. I was one. What’s good for us civilians is good for you as well. Suck it in and be safe.
I served as a volunteer at the Talleyville Fire Club (1971-1981) and(2009-2010)
    I see what gos on.
