first of all, if running in the hallway, you won’t have any spikes on, as you do when running track. so why are we running with our head down? afterall, how are you going to know when to stop? you know that the hallways don’t have padding… now, if they had an indoor track, they would not have had to worry about running in the hallways.

As a former track athlete, this is embarassing. Of course you put your head down at the end of a race, but why would you do it when you know you’re flying towards a wall? The coach told him to? I don’t think the coach told him to run head-first into the wall. IJ always leaves out details, but so far this kid sounds like he’s part ostrich – if he puts his head down, the wall is no longer there.

Back when I grew up we would have thought how stupid we were to have run into a wall and it would have been called an accident. More than likely no one would be sued for this. Of course that was way back when personal responsibility was in fashion.

This kid qualifies for the new surgical procedure called the “abdomino-cranial rectoplasty. They insert a piece of plexiglass in the abdomen so people with their heads up their _ss can see where they’re going.

that is the problem, no common sense, means attorneys can go after who ever and get more money… thankfully the city resolved it only for 325k vs millions!

afterall, you were not racing in the hallway… so why did you have your head down?!

Look at it this way… when you are at practice, not only are you working on strenght, ability, agility, conditioning form etc. So stands to reason, putting your head down at the end of the race is part of good form for a runner and you practice doing it every time! The problem here is the lack of running facility for indoor track so the students and coaches are relegated to a school hall way. Not very safe if you ask me.

Lack of a running facility is not the problem. Stupid idiot running into the wall and getting a slimeball attorney is the problem.

IF you accidentally break your leg while running is that covered under the schools insurance?

Is this kid really getting rich off this settlement or is this going mostly to medical bills?
