Just another way for NJ’s corrupt politician’s to get into our pockets. Who decides who will pay and who will not? The town official that says insurance policies will pay is wrong and too stupid to know the facts – insurance policies will not pay except for Fire Dept. responses to a fire, and then only a minimal amount.

now clue me in… don’t they taken an oath to save lives? so, if you deny and then two options could happen:

    1) that person being driven by a personal auto and break neck speeds with out sirens and lights; wind up in accident and possibly now killing the victim and then the driver who tried to assist; thus winding up in a lawsuit because of the folly….

    2) that person dies at home without immediate proper care; again, i can another lawsuit….

folks today will suit because they want someone to be responsible. i can see this adding to a multimillion $$$ situation.

My property tax bill (and all the other homes) at 16k on a 2500 s.f. home apparently isn’t enough money to run a town in NJ.

No sum is enough. It wont stop until they go bankrupt or people stop paying taxes & fees.

Let me tell you, in Virginia, there are paid departments and there are volunteer. Don’t charge the people who have to use the service, just raise taxes or have a fundraiser. My young father-in-law died unexpectedly less than two months ago. His wife had to call an ambulance to try and save him, they didn’t, and then 2 weeks after the funeral, they have the nerve to send her a bill for $600 for the transport. Won’t cuss on here, but you all know what I’m thinking.

What makes me curious is who is doing the billing? Is it one of these collection agencies that came in and promised increased revenues if they could get a cut?

I wonder if the rates for Homeowners in NJ will go up if they have to start paying for Fire Dept charges after an incident. Ambulance charges depend on the incident. If a person is injured in an auto accident and has to be transported, usually the liability carrier is responsible for ambulance charges if they are at fault. If it is just an illness at home, I don’t know where the coverage is unless it is Health Insurance paying.

Perhaps Chris Christie should look into this since he is looking out for the folks of NJ. This is a liberal, union dominated state and the gimmee, gimmee crowd is well entrenced. Just look at the Teachers Unions there and their unwillingness to give on benefits even if the state is going bankrupt.

If this goes into effect, this would be another problem for property owners especially landlords. In the case of a fire, a tree falls on someones house, and something happens that that property was a victim. Most property owners are afraid to put in a claim anyway. They are not aware of their rights? Once they are charged, what would insurance companies pay? %? What do insurance companies have to say about this?

Most policies don’t have the insurance company assume liability for anything the insured is not liable to pay so it will be interesting to see how they draft this law.
