Maine Governor Paul LePage has chosen Eric Cioppa to be the next superintendent of the Maine Bureau of Insurance.

Cioppa has been serving as acting superintendent since June when former Superintendent Mila Kofman resigned from the post.

The Maine Senate is expected to vote on the nomination during the special legislative session September 27, 2011.

Currently, Cioppa serves as co-chair of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions joint working group. He also is currently the co-chair of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners Advisory Organization Exam Oversight Group.
