Independent reinsurance broker Holborn Corp. has appointed Arthur Dougherty as a senior vice president in the firm’s New York City headquarters.
Dougherty is an industry veteran, having worked more than three decades in the reinsurance business. He comes from Pearl River, N.Y.-based U.S. RE Corp., where he managed the U.S. domestic production and placement of treaty reinsurance, and focused on property catastrophe business arising from the Gulf States.
He began his career in the management training program at American Re in 1979. He then moved to Sten-Re, Cole, a firm which ultimately became Aon Re, where he served for 20 years. He joined Benfield in 2001 as a senior vice president, where he was responsible for production, management, and placement of treaty reinsurance, with particular emphasis on specialty casualty business.
Founded in 1920, Holborn Corp. is an independent reinsurance brokerage firm headquartered in New York City. Through the adoption of an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) during 1998, it became exclusively owned by its employees.
