Unless these ten passengers were somehow injured in taking down the unruly captain, or during the scuffle as a bystander, I don’t see ANY merit to the lawsuit; of course, the whole story is obviously not contained here in this article, so who knows…?
So, were you there when it happened? A few newspaper articles and a brief IJ article is all you need to make a judgement on these people’s right to bring a lawsuit?
Actually yes. These people were likely not injured during the event and are just looking for an easy payday. The court should take this lawsuit and throw it in the crapper.
In fact ?, I am going to sue my employer because their negligence caused me to suffer mental strain as they should have known to block IJ where I had to read your dimwitted comment. You see, the lawsuit doesn’t make sense.
FSQ, that’s funny. Unfortunately we’ve become a nation of people with fragile psyches that will sue for any trauma we can make-up. Couple that with weak judges that have lifetime employment and no accountability and it only gets worse.
??? The “right to bring a lawsuit” as you say is grossly overused in this country, and this is another example. What’s next? A TV show that upsets them? There are more attorneys per capita in this country than any other country in the world….that doesn’t tell you something???
(One of the Plaintiffs):
“Richard Signoretti, 48, of Rosedale, N.Y., had his eyes closed and was listening to music when the woman next to him poked him to get his attention after the trouble started.
“What I got from him was, `You’re not going to make it to Las Vegas.’ It was extremely frightening, it was extremely unnerving. I still haven’t gotten a good night’s sleep,” Signoretti said.”
While I’m certain some passengers had a “scare”, these kinds of suits are about money and money only. Let’s not put all the blame on the passengers – remember there’s a lawyer and law firm behind all of this, and it’s a virtual certainty that after attorney fees and expenses of litigation, the passengers will only get about 50% of any settlement or award. These plaintiffs didn’t get themselves together. Some lawyer got the passenger list and solicited them. Did an airline employee “leak” the list to the attorney?

So what are they suing for, PTSD? Oh please. They should be thankful they’re alive and move forward.
