I think it is sick that a first responder would even think to share those types of photos on any personal level; I understand taking the photos as it relates to the job, but to share them on Facebook or ANY media social web is unprofessional and they should be fired for such behavior.
The incident involved a volunteer and he was removed from the department for his conduct.
As far as a law restricting it, it is a waste of time and paper since these issues can easily be handled in-house through departmental policy and strong leadership. When this occurred, all of the leaders in the fire and EMS service here (NJ) were shocked that this occurred and all of us would have handled it in the same manner; dismissal.
Most of what shows up on the fire-rescue report sites, facebook, etc., are images taken by spectators, not first responders.
I don’t think they should prohibit the photographing only because it can beome evidentry later. But I do agree that this shoudl not be shared nor made widely avaliable for the public.
