And they should add stickers on all those new “taxis of tomorrow” which should say “Proudly Made in Mexico by a Japanese company”. Absolute shame they didn’t give the contract to a US manufacturer of a better vehicle,; one which is FULLY ADA-compliant and significantly safer to ride in.
So, what responsibility does the bike rider have to watch for a taxi that is stopped and a door opens? Isn’t it easier for the bicyclist to look ahead of them (which they should be, right?!) than a passenger getting out of a car looking behind them?
Cheetoh, thanks for that tid bit, I have never been to NY City and wondered (before reading your comment)why in the world aren’t they stepping out curb side and what are bikes doing on the sidewalks! Ok, now it makes sense! Have a good one :)
Great idea! I think they should also look out for other cars, trucks and joggers too. And maybe motorcycles.

How about if they get out on the curb side so the doors don’t open into traffic at all? You can thank me later.
You’ve never been to NYC, right Nope!?
Right, Cheetoh, never been there. You won’t hold that against me, will you?
In NYC the closest you can get to curb side is one car away.
