Ok, I know I am being cold and heartless but this was not a surprise storm. Why didn’t you remove the tiffany lamps and other valuables? Maybe there wasn’t a boat big enough. I just find it incredible that there was so much warning on this storm and people didn’t evacuate and take their “important” stuff.

pretty sure that guy did evacuate. don’t think he’d have fared too well in a ‘low slung’ house on an island with an 8 foot storm surge.
How was he supposed to do that while he was working to protect the buildings and infrastructure on the island? Charter a boat?
