Pioneer Underwriters, a London-based underwriting group within Minova Insurance Holdings Ltd., announced that its New York-based division Pioneer Special Risk (PSR) has commenced underwriting.
PSR was launched in October 2014 and is led by Gary Dubois, division president.
PSR has been approved as a coverholder at Lloyd’s for certain classes of business. PSR’s underwriting focus is on management liability and professional liability, underwriting a combination of international D&O, professional lines and diversified financial services business with an emphasis on small to middle market clients.
The PSR team will initially target product lines that are amenable to being written on a surplus lines basis and will shortly expand to include other lines, Pioneer Underwriters said.
