Law enforcement agencies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are working together to boost security on New York’s public transportation network during the holidays.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order Tuesday giving law enforcement from New Jersey and Connecticut jurisdiction on New York’s buses, trains, ferries and transit stations.
In a joint statement, governors of all three states said the precautionary move was designed to increase vigilance during the busy holiday season.
Cuomo notes that hundreds of thousands of commuters routinely travel between the three states. He said the increased manpower and cooperation will better protect and reassure the public.
