Sadly, what Uber is not spending on regulatory compliance, taxes, dues (and yes, Uber is a taxi service – and should follow taxi regulations and laws – it’s pointless denying it) – Uber spends on lobbying and propaganda.

I don’t support this ride-sharing scheme. It is unfair, unlawful and damages thousands of honest New York state residents who work in full regulatory and legal compliance.

This whole “legalization” campaign is done so that multibillion dollar Uber will get even richer – not fairness, not opportunity, not job creation.

Uber never created new jobs – it shifts them away from small businesses offering same services (and apps) in a legitimate way, to a law-breaking tax-evading Uber monopoly.

That’s why it is essential for Uber to be “legalized”, because any plunder that is not legalized is a crime.

Cab service in Upstate NY is a complete joke. Awful smelly vehicles, rude drivers, extremely high costs and unreliability. Things need to change now!

The rest of the county has embraced Uber as it’s a better rider experience, much cheaper, keeps drunk drivers off the roads and increases revenues for restaurants, bars and events in all areas.

Stop living in the past NY and get with the program. Cabs are Blockbuster Video. Peace!

I have taken Uber in other cities and it is an amazing service that is reasonably priced. I never felt uncomfortable with the drivers and they drove safely.

When I take cabs in the Western New York area, I have had 2 instances where cab drivers tried to invite themselves up to my apartment, drivers who were texting while driving, had dirty taxis, etc. When I have called to complain, the taxi companies did not care. I dread taking cabs.

I work for a national company and we have people from other offices always ask if there is Uber. Uber is a staple in major cities, and if we want to complete for tourism with other cities, Uber is something that we need to offer.

Just a note about the article title, not everything above New York City is “upstate.” There is more to New York State then New York City (Western New York, Central New York, etc.)
