I hope the diocese wins this case. While I don’t agree with its stance on abortion, especially in the case of rape, incest and when the life of the mother is threatened; mandating that religious entities provide abortion coverage, which would be a clear violation of their religious beliefs, is wrong.
What I don’t understand is why they’re suing right now. Why not ask the state “if we refuse to provide abortion coverage, will our filing be approved?” After all…

Why sue when a simple email or certified letter to the superintendent asking if he’d approve their modified language omitting the abortion mandate? If s/he says yes, no further action is needed. If s/he says no, go ahead and sue.
Ah. I didn’t know they had the ability to request approval of modified language. If that’s the case, I’ll bet their argument will be similar to the Little Sister’s of the Poor’s argument – that they shouldn’t have to request an exemption, or in this case modified language approval.
I hear ya, BS. And it’s a difficult line to walk of “do we force coverage on all and let people opt out?” or “do we not mandate it and require everyone else to opt in?”
I have no facts to back this up, but I feel more companies would want to provide the coverage than refuse it. As such, the opt-out method makes sense as it impacts fewer number of businesses than having to opt-in.

Now if they already asked the superintendent and s/he blew him off, a law suit questioning his/her authority to create the mandate makes perfect sense.
Right Jack. Mandates are a nasty thing thought up by Progressive Liberals to impose their will on the people. By all means, let’s not have free Americans to make decisions on their own. The government always knows best, right?

Agent, I know you are not actually a Christian, so by your own definition you are an atheist, but the Bible does support abortion under certain circumstances. Maybe they should allow it if the man decides the pregnancy may have been from infidelity, and wants an abortion.
