Brightway Insurance Announces 2 Agency Owners in Pennsylvania

May 19, 2016

Brightway Insurance, a national property/casualty insurance retailer selling through a network of franchised independent agencies throughout the country, has announced two agency owners in Pennsylvania.

Kate Gowen has opened a new Brightway agency in Lansdale, and Rob Richardson has opened a new agency in Limerick.

These two agencies will reestablish Brightway’s presence in Pennsylvania. Brightway opened its first Pennsylvania store in Cranberry Township, near Pittsburgh, in 2014, but that location is currently not in operation.

The Brightway model offers independent agents access to insurance companies. Brightway’s agency owners are franchisees — they buy a Brightway franchise and operate it independently, with all back office operations handled from Brightway’s home office in Jacksonville, Florida.

Brightway’s system provides support to its agency owners, including systems, telephony, marketing, accounting and all service after the sale of a policy. The company primarily offers personal lines but also sells commercial lines to customers who seek those coverages.

Founded in 2003, Brightway has grown from 38 locations in Florida and $36 million in annualized written premium in 2008 to 118 locations in 11 states and more than $405 million in annualized written premium.
