OR…you could save the $5M and just eliminate absolute liability in labor law and actually accomplish reducing the $10B cost of injuries, as you have been told to do for YEARS! Spending more taxpayer money on political posturing instead of fixing the actual problem. Good job…not. NY is the only state that has this. Every other state that had it, eliminated it and saw a REDUCTION in injuries, despite what ambulance chasers claim.
How about letting the insurance industry with Loss Control specialists in WC do their job instead of forking over more and more taxpayer money. Is this a state sponsored OSHA?
Disgusted. Insurance companies already provide loss control services. Another way to waste tax payer money. Consumer Directed Choices programs in NY https://cdchoices.org/ is another example of dysfunction. Medicaid recipients can “hire” (tax payer money) personal aids of their choice and NYS taxpayers pays the bill (aides get vacation, 401K…). Medicaid recipient is viewed as the “employer” BUT NYS taxes pays the bills – including Workers Compensation premiums which are paid thru state agencies and CAN NOT mandate any loss control training. As a result, the exp mods are sky high – yup, we pay for it. Not against the program – just the administration.
