Open-Door Helicopter Flights Banned From Taking Off From New York City

    Let’s see. The helicopter crashes, and in crashing, the impact stresses the door frames such that the doors will not open. Never mind that had the seat belts been equipped with a quick release mechanism (sort of like a parachute harness release), the lack of doors would have allowed the passengers to escape. So the passengers get out of the seat belts but cannot open the doors ……. Anyone who has ever ridden in a Huey with open (no) doors, knows how easy it is to get out …. and live.
