This is just disgusting. I find it unbelievable that we all know how bad WC is but NO ONE does anything about it. Our politicians propose a “decrease???” Seriously? When your hurt at work its not a choice.. Your hurt… No one asks to be hurt and those that do deserve what they get when they get caught. But those of us that got hurt at work deserve to be compensated fairly during the WHOLE time we are out of work.. No matter how long it takes. We have bills to pay too why should our credit go to crap because WC refuses to pay on time or skip paying a month or two for no reason or reduce our WC payment by half or more because a IME doctor that by the way gets paid thousands to lie and make you look like your not as injured as 5 other doctors are stating? If anything it should be increased and the laws far more strict towards the carriers. Things like this in any other situation would be far different. Why do we do nothing?

It’s the rate the employers pay so the insurance company. Nothing to do with claims.

It has everything to do claims. Injured workers rights have been slowly chipped away at in NY since 2007. Over the past 2 years alone the Insurance Carrier and Employers have reduced their costs by 15% at the expense of injured workers. While the rate of compensation has risen the amount of time the workers is entitled to receive benefits has decreased. The insurance company and employers are savings 100s of thousands of dollars and injured workers are feeling the effects of suspension of benefits now that caps are running. They lose their homes, their dignity.. but the State’s only concern is making sure employers and carrier pockets are padded. The state should do away with the system and let employees sue employers. Then the injured worker would be fairly compensated for their injuries.

WC is equally bad for both: employee and employers, in a last year’s rates skyrocketed 3-4 times, for small business (not sure about larger corp.) it becomes impossible to cover, forcing layoffs, or closing the business all together. System is crippled a the same time a lot’s of fraud cases they don’t want to investigate.
