Roost Partners with New York-Based Kingstone Insurance

August 30, 2018

Roost, a provider of home telematics for property insurance carriers, has partnered with New York-based Kingstone Insurance.

Roost is a technology company headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif. Kingstone is a property and casualty insurance holding company whose principal operating subsidiary, Kingstone Insurance Company, is domiciled in the state of New York.

Kingstone writes business exclusively through independent retail and wholesale agents and brokers and is licensed to write insurance policies in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and Texas. It currently offers property and casualty insurance products to individuals and small businesses in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

In a strategic agreement reached to increase policyholder engagement as well as reduce claims costs, Kingstone Insurance will begin a pilot program in September to offer either a free Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector or a Roost Smart Battery to select new and existing policyholders.

As Kingstone begins deploying Roost smart sensors, policyholders will be better able to mitigate the cost and hassle of fire, smoke and water leak-related claims, according to a Roost press release. Kingstone Insurance will also be able to strengthen its engagement with policyholders through Roost’s co-branded Kingstone Insurance mobile app, recently enhanced with emergency weather alerts and home service pro access.

The Roost Smart 9V Battery transforms existing smoke alarms into smart alarms. If the alarm sounds and no one is home, a smartphone notification is delivered. The Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector is designed to sense water leaks as well as humidity and freezing temperature situations. It delivers smartphone alerts via the co-branded Kingstone app to help minimize water damage and loss.
