It is difficult to run a business and staff up for an unlikely event like this gas explosion, and still profit or breakeven, while charging customers a competitive price. If this Gas Company over-staffed in anticipation of this unlikely event, prices would go up and everyone would be in an uproar, including the politicians.
Politicians play with other people’s money; businesses play with their own money. It is easy to come in and criticize the gas company after the fact. They could turn this around and ask the politicians why they didn’t prevent 9/11?
