Can we make the presumption that all six of the kids in this stolen vehicle (they were supposedly all friends of the driver) were fully aware that the car was stolen since they would have likely known if their 16 year-old friend had a car of his own or had ready access to a car. If so, then they were all engaged in joy-riding in a stolen car when the accident occurred. It is hard to see how it can be Kia’s fault the car was stolen (the driver wasn’t charged with theft, only possession of a stolen car) and that Kia should be financially responsible for the deaths, especially when the charges against the driver are not more serious and he has been released, presumably to the custody of his parents who were doing a marvelous job of providing him with oversight.
This is such a bogus lawsuit and clearly filed only to try and get a big payoff. These kids are the ONLY ones that hold responsibility, NOT the car maker. Plus, since they were minors, sue the parents, and then try those kids in ADULT court since they want to play adult games.
I hope this lawsuit gets thrown out of court.

Is it Kia’s fault for allowing the car to be operated without the seat belts being latched too?
If identifying an additional party of third party liability is the objective, then Tic Tok should be the obvious defendent to pursue.
Perhaps if they had been better parents, their kid wouldn’t have stolen a car
