Police and rescue personnel in Marlborough, New Hampshire were dispatched earlier this month to the local Extra Space storage facility for a reported golf cart rollover and entrapment.
The crews found the single occupant of the golf cart still pinned underneath. Police officers extricated the man from the overturned golf cart and rescue personnel administered lifesaving measures. However, the 77 year-old man succumbed to his injuries and was officially pronounced dead after arrival at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene.
The employee of the storage company was working alone at the time of the rollover. After reviewing security footage and conducting an on-scene investigation, police came to believe that the employee had been attempting to make a three-point turn in the cart when the machine rolled over the edge of the steep embankment while in neutral.
The golf cart was equipped with seatbelts but they were not in use at the time.
Police said the incident was witnessed by an employee of a nearby motel who called 911.
Officials said they do not anticipate there being any criminal charges filed as a result of the accident.
