A cast member of the Bravo TV show “The Real Housewives of Potomac” and her husband have been indicted in Maryland for allegedly reporting a fake burglary.
Carroll County officials said Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband Edward were both taken into custody and formally charged with multiple counts related to fraud. Dr. Osefos, who appears on the Bravo TV show, is a professor.
According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, on April 7, 2024, deputies responded to a report of a burglary and theft at a residence in Finksburg. Upon arrival, the deputies met with the homeowners who stated they returned from vacation to find that their home had been entered and numerous items had been stolen. According to the court documents, they reported approximately 80 items of jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and shoes were stolen, worth a total of more than $200,000.
However, detectives who investigated said they found that the owners had returned more than $20,000 worth of the items reported stolen to where they were purchased. Further, detectives said that they found images taken after the burglary supposedly took place of one of the homeowners wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen.
On October 9, the investigation was presented to a grand jury and the Osefos were indicted. On October 10, they posted bail and were released.
The Osefos are presumed innocent of the charges until proven guilty in a court of law.
