February 24, 2026

U.S. airlines canceled over 2,000 flights on Tuesday, far fewer than a day earlier, as a powerful winter storm that disrupted airports across the Northeast was expected to ease by evening, with strong winds expected to continue into the early hours.

Over 2,000 flights canceled, 600 delayed as of 06:00 a.m. ET, Tuesday, according to data from FlightAware.

Nearly 6,000 flights were canceled on Monday, along with about 4,000 delays.

The National Weather Service said the storm was expected to move away from the country on Tuesday, though strong winds could continue through the morning hours.

Among major carriers, JetBlue Airways JBLU.O had the highest number of cancellations, with nearly 41% of its scheduled flights scrapped for Tuesday, FlightAware data showed.

FACTBOX-More than 380,000 customers without power as winter storm hits US Northeast

REUTERS — A winter storm across parts of the U.S. Northeast has left more than 380,000 homes and businesses without power, as officials across the region warned of heavy snow, strong winds and dangerous travel conditions.

The hardest-hit utilities included Eversource Energy in Massachusetts, where 229,847 of its 3.3 million customers were without power, followed by National Grid, with more than 23,000 of its customers affected. The utility serves about 3.1 million customers across the U.S.

“Heavy snow, wind gusts over 70 mph, and near zero visibility continue to create hazardous conditions across Massachusetts … Until the weather improves, our crews are limited in what they can safely accomplish,” National Grid said in a post on X on Monday.

The total number of power outages in Massachusetts stands at 253,279.

The storm has made travel along the East Coast difficult. Airlines canceled thousands of flights, and officials urged people to stay off the roads.
