The Insurance Institute of America (IIA) has published a new, third edition, of its Ocean Marine Insurance textbook, one of two required texts for the AMIM 121—Ocean Marine Insurance course.

The textbook covers marine insurance fundamentals, ocean cargo insurance and underwriting, hull insurance, freight and loss of charter hire, protection and indemnity, hull and P&I underwriting, and various classes of ocean marine business such as builders’ risks, marina operators, and yachts. AMIM 121 is one of six courses in IIA’s Associate in Marine Insurance Management (AMIM) designation program.

The announcement noted that: “The Business of Shipping, 7th edition, published by Cornell Maritime Press, was recently adopted as the second text in the AMIM 121 course. It provides the student with a broad-based foundation in the fundamentals of ocean shipping. A completely revised 4th edition course guide ties the two textbooks together.”

Ocean Marine Insurance and The Business of Shipping cost $63 each; the corresponding course guide is $52. Prices do not include shipping and handling.
