Marsh Names South UK CEO

December 7, 2006

Marsh announced from London that Martin South has been named to fill the new role of CEO of its UK operations. He will report to Alex Moczarski, CEO of Marsh, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

South joins Marsh from Zurich Financial Services where he has been CEO-International Businesses and a member of the Group Management Board since 2003. He has been responsible for all of Zurich’s operations outside North America and Europe, including emerging markets with a particular focus on China. Prior to joining Zurich, South spent 12 years at Marsh in wholesale broking, principally with international clients.

Brian Storms, Chairman and CEO, Marsh Inc. commented: “Martin’s decision to rejoin Marsh is yet further proof of our ability to attract the top talent in our industry. Coupled with his strong operational experience, his impressive track record of driving profitable growth and business development at the highest levels are exactly the kind of attributes that will ensure we achieve our ambitious growth targets.”

Moczarski added: “Martin joins at an exciting time for Marsh. As we capitalise on the expertise we can offer in both our broking and risk advisory services, his strong client-focused background and leadership experience make him an excellent addition to our management team in the region.”

In accepting his new position South noted: “Shareholders are demanding that companies put managing risk at the centre of their agenda. Independent insight-led advice will continue to be at a premium. I am very much looking forward to returning to Marsh at a time when there is among companies a large and increasing appetite to understand and manage risk and make the most of the opportunities available to them. As well as working hard to cement Marsh’s position as the world’s pre-eminent broker, I see it as crucial to build on the strong growth in the risk consulting business, where Marsh already holds the leading position.”
