Willis Names Van der Slikke VP – Canadian Energy Operations

Willis Group Holdings has appointed Cees van der Slikke to Executive Vice President of the Company’s Energy Business in Canada, as well as Managing Partner of the Calgary office. He will be responsible for the continued development of Willis’ Energy business in Canada in addition to leading its office in Calgary.

“In this capacity, he will be working closely with Willis’ Global Energy senior management team to continue the Company’s track record of profitable growth and client retention,” said the bulletin. “In addition he will work with the leadership of Willis Canada to insure the Calgary office provides all the resources of Willis Canada to clients and prospects.”

Van der Slikke joined Willis in April of 2006 from Aon where he was National Business Leader of Energy based in Calgary. In that capacity he was responsible for the development and execution of Aon’s growth strategy for their Energy, Oil and Gas businesses. He began his career as Risk Manager at Unilever, and later at Shell. Before moving to Calgary in 2002, he was also responsible for Aon Rotterdam’s Marine, Construction & Energy book where he managed a team of 95 associates across Holland and oversaw significant growth of these businesses.

Rick Hynes, President and CEO of Willis Canada, indicated that van der Slikke has ” made major contributions to the development of our business in Canada.” Phil Ellis, Business Leader and Chairman of Global Energy at Willis, noted that the broker is focused on “growing our Energy business in Canada as part of our very successful global energy operation.”
