Commercial and industrial property insurer FM Global has opened a representative office in Beijing, China following the receipt of approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC). The regulator gave its go ahead to Factory Mutual Insurance Company, which does business as FM Global.
The opening of the Beijing office “marks the first step in the country’ s process for FM Global to establish a licensed insurance company in China,” said the announcement.
Allan Palmer, operations vice president, FM Global, will serve as the designated Chief Representative for the Beijing office and be the liaison between the China marketplace and the company’ s headquarters in Johnston, Rhode Island, USA. Palmer has worked at FM Global for more than 30 years and spent the past decade in Asia.
FM Global also noted that its “growth has continued to follow that of its multinational clients, who comprise more than one out of every three FORTUNE 1000 companies and similar-sized organizations operating in more than 130 countries.”
