MAPFRE RE has opened a branch office in Paris, which, it said would “promote the development of LHA reinsurance (Life, Health and Accidents). The new branch joins offices previously opened in Athens, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Milan and Munich, in which the company operates.
Jean Pierre Aldon has been named as “the person responsible for the Parisian branch.” He will “lead a team of professionals” in collaboration with the head office in Madrid and MAPFRE RE’s Europe Division.
The branch is in central Paris opposite the Louvre Museum, Which “will contribute to consolidate its position as reinsurer in the region, making it easily accessible to customers,” said the announcement.

It also noted that “at the end of 2010, MAPFRE RE achieved a premiums volume of €2.3716 billion, 15.5 percent more than in previous year. MAPFRE RE has branches in 16 countries worldwide, from which it provides service in over 100 countries. MAPFRE’s reinsurance subsidiary ranks 14th in the world reinsurance league, according to the rating agencies AM Best and S&P.”
