    Jack says:
    Like or Dislike:
    Thumb up 0
    Thumb down 0

How many hundreds of times has this pithy statement been made???
Stop the talking and do something.
Mandate that cruise ships cannot fly flags of convenience.
Mandate that cruise ships must run background checks of onboard employees.
Mandate that cruise ship medical staffs have to be competent and liable for their negligence based on the state in which they practice.
Mandate that the number of people on board cruise ships is limited to the number than can be safely put into lifeboats in 30 minutes.
Mandate that lifeboat drills be conducted within the first 6 hours of cruising.
Mandate that the bridge staff & the captain cannot leave the ship until all other passengers and employees are in life boats.

The saddest thing about the Italian tragedy is that nothing is new — talk, talk, talk. The cures are obvious but no cruise line ever takes them seriously. Let’s see if any of the cruise lines have the guts to enact the above suggestions.
