Ironshore Appoints London-Based Horton as Director U.S. Liability Risks

February 3, 2014

Bermuda-based Ironshore International has appointed Chris Horton to a new position as Director of Underwriting for U.S. Liability risks, including Specialty Casualty, IronPro, IronHealth and Environmental business lines. He is based in London, and also will join the Board of Ironshore International. Horton reports to Mark Wheeler, CEO of Ironshore International.

Horton joins Ironshore from the London branch of Lexington Insurance Company where he served for more than thirteen years as General Manager and Regional Vice President, responsible for the U.S. Property and Casualty portfolio.

Ironshore noted that while at Lexington, “Horton oversaw senior management, underwriting teams and professional staff to integrate branch operations into AIG U.K Limited.” He led an innovation initiative to establish internal systems designed to eliminate duplication within the underwriting process and to streamline delivery of support services.

His other professional experience includes his role as Casualty Underwriting Manager for Zurich Re for five years, building the company’s London-based Casualty practice. He also held various positions as a casualty underwriter with Lexington in Boston and New York.

Wheeler noted Horton’s “established reputation as a leading insurance industry executive attuned to the liability coverage needs of U.S. risks; indicating that his “in-depth expertise reflects a proven track record in providing syndicated coverage to U.S. domiciled clients from the London market.”
