Lloyd’s Appoints Hu to Council; McGovern, Griffiths to Franchise Board

Lloyd’s has announced three appointments with immediate effect. Fred Hu will join the Lloyd’s Council and Joy Griffiths and Sean McGovern will join the Franchise Board.

The bulletin described Hu as a “renowned economist and investor. “Between 1997 and 2010 he was with Goldman Sachs, latterly as a partner and Chairman of Greater China. Hu is presently the Chairman of Primavera Capital Group, a China-based global investment firm.

Griffiths is currently Global Managing Director, Experian Decision Analytics and Chairman of Experian’s Asia Pacific region, including India. She has recent and relevant experience in the financial services business both in the UK and internationally.

Sean McGovern has been with Lloyd’s since 1996. He was appointed Director & General Counsel with responsibility for Lloyd’s legal, regulatory and government affairs in 2002. He also was formerly in charge of Lloyd’s North American operations, a post now held by Vincent Vandendael Lloyd’s International Market’s director. McGovern has recently taken overall responsibility for risk management at Lloyd’s.

Lloyd’s Chairman John Nelson welcomed Hu to the Council of Lloyd’s and Griffiths as a non-executive member of the Lloyd’s Franchise Board, adding that they both “bring with them a wealth of financial services experience and extensive specialist international knowledge.I am equally pleased that Sean McGovern has taken on the role of Chief Risk Officer and will be joining the Franchise Board.”
