Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) announced two appointments to its leadership and underwriting team in Asia, naming Malin Fredriksson as Asia regional head of first party lines, and Kiran Prakash as Asia regional head of engineering and construction, both based in Singapore.
Fredriksson comes to BHSI with nearly two decades of underwriting and management experience. She was most recently underwriting & reinsurance director, Asia, and chief underwriting officer, specialty, Asia, at RSA. Before that she was head of property, Asia & Middle East, RSA, and held various property underwriting positions at insurers in New York, mainland China, Sweden and London.
Prakash joins BHSI from Swiss Reinsurance Company where he was most recently senior construction, machinery breakdown and power/utilities underwriter in Asia. Prior to that, Prakash was energy and utilities underwriter at Asia Capital Reinsurance (ACR), and an engineer at SmartBridges.
A qualified mechanical (design) engineer, Prakash holds a master’s degree in entrepreneurship from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and a diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
