MSIG at Lloyd’s Launches Bloodstock Account With 2 Appointments

March 3, 2015

MSIG at Lloyd’s has moved into the bloodstock market with the appointment of specialist underwriters Rebecca Attridge and Phil Needham.

Attridge and Needham both report to Caroline Koczerzat, underwriting manager, marine. The appointments mean the Syndicate 3210 now offers a comprehensive insurance product for high-value horses through specialist insurance brokers and agencies across the world. Coverage is for all risks of mortality and theft, with additional covers including stallion infertility, prospective foal insurance, life-saving surgery, colic surgery, and transit insurance.

Attridge, who leads the account, joined MSIG from QBE where she held the position of senior bloodstock underwriter from 2005. She has three horses of her own and a lifetime’s passion for equine pursuits. Needham held the position of bloodstock portfolio manager at QBE for 11 years and has been in the insurance industry since 1972.

Koczerzat said: “The appointments of Rebecca and Phil bring considerable knowledge and expertise to MSIG and allow us to offer a compelling proposition to the bloodstock market – in line with our strategic intent to diversify and grow our portfolio of niche specialty business. Their expert knowledge and experience means they have made an immediate impact on what is a highly specialist and competitive market.”
