International General Insurance Holdings Limited (IGIH) announced that it has hired three senior underwriters at IGI UK “as part of a strategy for growing the London based operations.
The company named Barry Marren as International D&F Property Underwriter, Maria Fahy as Treaty Underwriter, and Joanne Forester as Assistant Aviation Underwriter, effective June 1, 2015.
Marren “has spent 30 years in the reinsurance markets, starting his career at Syndicate 994 at Lloyd’s of London. He went on to work for XL Insurance, and latterly Markel Insurance, where he wrote an international property portfolio of D&F business,” the announcement said.
Fahy is “an experienced reinsurance professional, who has worked in London since 1988. She started her career at Excess Insurance, and went on to work for Hartford Re, Lloyd’s Syndicate 566, Endurance Worldwide, and most recently Chaucer Syndicate at Lloyd’s, where she was Class Underwriter, International Property Treaty.”
Forester also has “30 years’ experience in the London aviation market, with 19 in underwriting and 11 in broking. She has expertise in Airline and General Aviation, underwriting and broking, most recently at United Insurance Brokers.”
“I am delighted that we have been able to attract such talented and respected professionals as Barry, Maria and Joanne to IGI UK,” said Andreas Loucaides, IGI UK’s CEO.
He noted that Fahy would “strengthen our current offering from Treaty Underwriter Simon Levy who is based in Amman, Jordan, and will provide further support to our existing clients and brokers, as well as developing new business opportunities in London and internationally.”
Loucaides described Marren’s appointment as further enhancing “our Property team based in Amman as we continue to grow these profitable books of business,” and said Forester would “play an important role in helping us to strengthen our General Aviation team.”
