Aspen Re has appointed Douglas De Couto as head of portfolio analytics. De Couto will be joining Aspen Re from RenaissanceRe where until recently he was assistant vice president, corporate risk, a role in which he led a team responsible for proprietary model data, primarily cat-focused.
He will be based in Bermuda and report to Alan Calder, head of group catastrophe risk management.
“Douglas has a proven track record of using his deep technical expertise to solve strategic business issues, particularly in areas such as portfolio optimization and modeling as well as capital allocation and efficiency, and he will provide leadership and insight as we enhance further our catastrophe risk management analytical processes and technology strategy,” said Stephen Postlewhite, chief executive officer, Aspen Re.
De Couto has been at RenaissanceRe since 2006 before which, he co-founded Inbox.bm e-billing and e-payment website for the local Bermuda market. Prior to this, he worked for Orbis Investment Management.
