Hiscox London Market has appointed Nick Waddell as general liability line underwriter; establishing Hiscox’s first ever stand-alone general liability team as the business seeks to take advantage of a London market resurgence in U.S. general liability risks.
Reporting to Neil Bolton, Hiscox London Market’s head of Casualty, Waddell joins from Catlin where he was senior class underwriter for the general liability account. Prior to Catlin, he worked for reinsurance broker RK Carvill, focusing mainly on U.S. casualty treaty placements and MGA business.
Commenting on the appointment, Bolton said: “As we build our Casualty division, Nick Waddell’s recruitment allows us to establish our first stand-alone general liability team and further expand the range of casualty products we can offer to clients in the U.S. and internationally.”
Waddell added: “London is having a real renaissance in the U.S. general liability arena, offering U.S. clients a viable alternative to local markets and international competitors like Bermuda. I believe Hiscox’s brand strength and reputation for innovation and high quality service will enable us to deliver a competitive advantage as we look to build a strong portfolio of both U.S. and international general liability risks.”
