Ascot Underwriting Ltd., the London-based Lloyd’s managing agency, has appointed Simon Kimberley as chief underwriting officer of Ascot Underwriting (Bermuda) Ltd.
Kimberley transferred to AUB in 2014 as underwriter and was formerly an underwriter with Ascot’s treaty team in London.
“The hard work put in by the AUB and London teams in this competitive market has resulted in a great start for Ascot’s Bermuda platform,” said Mark Pepper, chief underwriting officer of Ascot Underwriting Ltd. “I’m delighted to mark this achievement with Simon’s promotion to CUO of AUB and look forward to further success supported by our strong working relationship with AIG and commitment to growing the business in a controlled manner.”
AUB is managing general agent of AIG-Ascot Re, which began writing assumed reinsurance business on Jan. 1, 2015 for and on behalf of American International Reinsurance Company Ltd. (AIRCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of AIG, which is rated “A” (Excellent) by A.M. Best and “A+” (Strong) by Standard & Poor’s.
