Heaven Moves from Aon to Markel International’s Credit & Political Risk Division

April 20, 2016

Markel International, the London-based specialist insurer and subsidiary of Markel Corp., has appointed Lida Heaven as an underwriter in its trade credit and political risk division.

Heaven previously worked as a political risk and structured credit broker at Aon Risk Solutions. Prior to joining Aon as a graduate trainee in 2012, she achieved a distinction in her master’s degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies and a first class degree from the University of York.

Heaven’s role at Markel International will be to assist with the development of its political risk book, with a particular focus on the contract frustration business. She joins following the recruitment of Nicola Marriage, senior underwriter, in January this year, to lead the political risk team.

Nicola Marriage said: “Lida has built an impressive reputation as a broker and this, together with her strong academic background, makes her an ideal candidate to assist in the development of a diverse and profitable contract frustration book. Her broking background will also support the establishment of strong client and broker relationships.”

Ewa Rose, divisional managing director, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Lida on board as part of our growing team. Her appointment further strengthens the division as we extend the range of our product offering across our hubs in London, Singapore, New York and Dubai.”
