Brit Appoints Brock as President of Newly Formed Scion Underwriting Managers

November 28, 2017

Brit Ltd. announced that insurance industry veteran, Scott Brock, has joined as president of newly formed specialty platform Scion Underwriting Managers.

In this role, Brock will be responsible for building and managing the operations of Scion, which will partner with Brit and other markets – including third party capital – to support the insurance needs of several targeted industries, both in the U.S. and international markets.

In the announcement, Brit did not provide details of Scion’s structure, location or the industries it intends to target.

Brock brings 25 years of insurance experience, alongside strong investment expertise in financial services, Brit said. He most recently worked at Advocate Reinsurance Partners, where he joined as CEO in 2010 and oversaw all aspects of its operations until its sale in 2016. Brock also co-founded Tobat Capital, where he was fundamental in all aspects of the company, including capital raising and portfolio management. Prior to this, he held a number of leadership roles at E.W. Blanch Company.

Brock’s strong insurance background and experience as an investor position him well to help Brit establish a compelling offering for the group, said Brit CEO Matthew Wilson. “We look forward to working with Scott to develop new products that match the needs of several targeted sectors, while leveraging our distribution reach and Scott’s proven ability to effectively build-out new businesses.”

“I look forward to working with the entire Group in building out the Scion platform over the long term,” said Brock. “We have several exciting opportunities in front us and are busy putting the pieces in place to capitalize on these.”
