Christian Named Aon Benfield’s Global Chairman; Page Promoted to CEO of Aon UK

Aon plc announced that Dominic Christian has been appointed as global chairman of Aon Benfield. At the same time, Julie Page has been promoted to chief executive officer of Aon UK Ltd., subject to regulatory approval.

Most recently, Christian was chief executive officer of Aon UK Ltd., the firm’s UK risk management, insurance broking, and reinsurance business, and since 2013 he has been executive chairman of Aon Benfield International. In his new role, Christian will continue to report to Greg Case, president and chief executive officer of Aon plc.

In Page’s new position, she will be responsible for the management and governance oversight of the Aon UK business, including strategies on how to best meet clients’ needs, delivering on the firm’s UK regulatory commitments and liaising with the UK board. She will report to Michael O’Connor, global chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions. She will continue in her current position as chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions UK, reporting to John Cullen, chief executive officer of Aon Risk Solutions EMEA.

CEO of Benfield Ltd. Christian began his career in the mid-1980s at specialist broker JK Buckenham, joined broker Greig Fester in 1989 and became a director in 1994. He has spent a significant portion of his career broking retrocession business.

The experience that Christian brings to the role is further enhanced by his civic, charitable, climate and diversity & inclusion responsibilities, said Aon in a statement. He is a director of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a director of The Bermuda Society and is chairman of the Lloyd’s Tercentenary Research Foundation and chairman of the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts (SCVA).

In 2014 he was elected as a member of the Council of Lloyd’s. For 2015/16 he was president of the Insurance Institute of London. He was recently re-elected to the Court of Common Council of The City of London. He chairs the Inclusion@Lloyd’s Group – a contemporary approach to diversity & inclusion, being in his view central to future business success. He was also recently appointed chair of ClimateWise.

Page started her career with Aon, before moving to Marsh where she was chief executive officer of the Commercial and Consumer division. She re-joined Aon in early 2016 to lead the National ARS (Aon Risk Solutions) business across 16 offices in the UK.

She was named CEO of Aon Risk Solutions UK in April 2017, a role that she will keep, along with her new role as CEO of Aon UK. She has extensive experience of providing risk and insurance advisory services across the spectrum of the UK retail insurance market, from consumers through to large and global corporates.

Page also currently serves as a deputy chair of British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA). She is an advocate for diversity & inclusion, through participation on the Inclusion@Lloyd’s and Dive-In Festival committees.
