I think people should have a right to sue corporations for costly mistakes of faulty Ai and also individuals who use AI outside of it’s design parameters that also lead to costly mistakes. All the above should be required to carry mandatory insurance on AI so people always have a legal recourse against costly AI mistakes.
Suing Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg for selling data of millions of users to Cambridge Analytica to tip the election to Trump would be reasonable legal recourse; in keeping with the article & Mr. Fischbach’s comment, the bots which were used to sway voters’ opinions in the run-up to the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, by both Russians as well as by Cambridge Analytica, would be a prime example of why insurance should be mandated (of course, why would these bad actors buy insurance?), and is also a prime example of who should be sued, and why they should be sued, seeing the harm the past 15+ months has caused the planet.
