MGU Victor Taps Bonfà from US Underwriting Solutions as Country Leader of Victor Italia

April 9, 2020

Victor Insurance Holdings, the world’s largest managing general underwriter (MGU), announced the appointment of Matteo Bonfà as country manager, Victor Italia S.r.l., effective immediately.

Bonfà is based in Milan and reports to Anthony Stevens, president, Victor International.

With a 20-year career in the insurance industry, Bonfà brings extensive underwriting expertise, particularly in the medical malpractice sector, first as an underwriter at Lloyd’s of London, then as underwriting manager, General Liability and Pharma, at QBE European Operations plc in Italy. Before joining Victor, he was chief executive officer and chief underwriting officer of Milan-based US Underwriting Solutions S.r.l.

Bonfà succeeds Tony Cabot, who is retiring after 40 years in the insurance industry, including three years as country leader of Victor Italia. Cabot will remain with the company in a consulting role.

“Victor is experiencing a period of exciting growth in Italy,” said Bonfà. “This is a unique opportunity to join an organization with such a strong value proposition and bright future.”

“Matteo’s strong underwriting leadership and global perspective are well-matched with Victor Italia’s ambitious expansion plans,” commented Stevens. “Technology and big data are revolutionizing the way the entire industry operates globally and Victor can play a crucial role in that digital transformation.”

He thanked Cabot for his contribution to Victor’s success in Italy.
