Chubb Promotes Rayan and Edey for Consumer Lines Distribution and Financial Lines, Respectively; Hiscox Hires Hartford’s Pearsall as Line U/W for D&O

Chubb Promotes Rayan and Edey for Consumer Lines Distribution and Financial Lines, Respectively

Chubb announced two recent appointments: Israel Rayan as regional head of Consumer Lines Distribution for Continental Europe, the Middle East and North Africa (CEMENA), and Janet Edey as Financial Lines manager for the UK, Ireland and South Africa (UKISA).

In this newly created role, Rayan will be responsible for overseeing regional large and strategic partnerships plus distribution channels (digital, direct marketing, affinity and face to face) for a wide range of consumer products, including accident & health, personal lines and others.

Rayan, who was previously vice president Direct Marketing, Latin America, will report to Florian Eisele, senior vice president, director of Accident and Health, CEMENA.

The appointment is effective immediately and he will be based in Madrid from Jan. 1, 2022.

In a separate appointment, Chubb announced the promotion of Janet Edey as Financial Lines manager for the UK, Ireland and South Africa (UKISA).

In this role, Edey will be responsible for managing and developing the growth of Chubb’s Financial Lines business in UKISA.

Edey was previously management liability manager, Financial Lines for UKISA. She reports to Hilda Toh who she also succeeds after Toh’s recent appointment as property/casualty chief underwriting officer for UKISA.

She will be based in London and her appointment is effective immediately.

Edey joined Chubb in 2018 and has more than 30 years of industry and underwriting experience in various senior management and leadership roles within professional and financial lines.

Hiscox Hires Hartford’s Pearsall as Line U/W for D&O

Hiscox, the specialist global insurer, has appointed Steven Pearsall as D&O line underwriter within its London Market business.

Pearsall has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance market including underwriting roles for AIG and, most recently, The Hartford where he was head of Financial Lines within its London Market division. As such, he has significant experience of managing a substantial portfolio including D&O, financial institutions, professional indemnity and reps & warranties.

Pearsall will be based in London and lead a team of five underwriters, with a key focus on U.S. risks and certain international D&O.

Hiscox is headquartered in Bermuda and is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
