WTW Hires AIG’s Dasan for Construction and Natural Resources Australasia

Insurance broker Willis Towers Watson has appointed Kishan Dasan as director of Strategic Growth – Construction and Natural Resources Australasia. He will be based in Melbourne and take up his new role with the company on Dec. 13, 2021.

Dasan joins WTW from AIG where he was head of Construction Asia Pacific. This is a new role created to meet a key need within the construction and natural resources sectors. Dasan will work across both of WTW’s teams to provide a seamless service to clients throughout the life of their projects.

Dasan has been at the forefront of some of the region’s largest construction and energy projects, having spent over 13 years with AIG, including writing the largest construction and mining project seen to date in Australia, commented Iain Drennan, head of Construction Australasia. “With long experience in underwriting and being a qualified engineer, Kishan brings unparalleled expertise and insights that will uniquely benefit WTW clients across the lifecycle of their projects, taking their risk mitigation and management strategies to a new level.”

Chubb Names Bogardus as Country President for Singapore

Chubb announced the appointment of Kevin Bogardus as the country president for its Singapore business, subject to regulatory approval. Bogardus replaces Scott Simpson who has been appointed as president for Chubb’s operations in Hong Kong and Macau.

In his new role as country president for Singapore, Bogardus will have overall responsibility for the growth and financial results of the operations across all lines of business, such as property/casualty, accident & health and personal lines. He will also manage all affinity partnerships and drive efforts to deepen and grow these.

Bogardus is currently the country president for Chubb in China. He will relocate from China to Singapore for his role and will report to Edward Ler, Chubb’s executive vice president and head of Southeast Asia.

Bogardus has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry having begun his career at Winterthur Insurance where he helped establish offices for the company in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Ningbo. He ultimately secured the first operating license for a European insurance company in China.

Over the years, he has worked for reinsurance and broking firms in roles of increasing responsibility. He joined Chubb in 2009 as chief advisor to Huatai Insurance Group Co. Ltd., where Chubb is the largest shareholder. Under his leadership, Chubb’s footprint in China grew and the business expanded into new product lines becoming the market leader in segments such as life sciences, financial lines and Chinese multinational programs.

AXA XL’s Muzeya Joins Mosaic Insurance as Financial Institutions U/W

Financial institutions underwriter Womba Muzeya has joined the London team of Mosaic Insurance, as the company continues to build out specialty units tackling diverse and specialized risks.

Muzeya has been appointed VP, senior underwriter, Financial Institutions, reporting to the division’s global head, Chris Brown. She will underwrite a broad array of financial institutions coverage, from small fund managers to complex banking risks, with a focus on international business in the London market.

Muzeya has more than 15 years’ underwriting experience, predominantly across all aspects of the financial institutions sphere. Previously, she served as a primary lead underwriter at AXA XL, focusing on a UK and European portfolio. She also has held roles at Tokyo Marine HCC and Zurich, where she underwrote both FI and management liability.

Financial institutions coverage is among Mosaic’s six specialty lines, each selected for their high technical barriers to entry and relevance to current and projected global market conditions. Other units include cybersecurity, political risk, political violence, transactional liability, and professional liability.
