Irvine, Calif.-based surety-bond writer the Insco Dico Group announced the promotion of Sam Tobis to regional vice president, based in Des Moines, Iowa.
Tobis joined the Insco Dico Group in 1995 to open the Des Moines branch and will now oversee production in 21 Midwest and East Coast states, which includes the Des Moines and Pittsburgh offices. He has significant expertise in working with insurance agents, developers, contractors, subcontractors and financial institutions in all aspects of the surety bonding process.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and completing coursework in the Master’s program in urban planning and public finance, he began his surety career in 1982 as a trainee with the Aetna Casualty and Surety Co. He later worked for the CIGNA and St. Paul Cos. before joining the Lockton Cos. in Kansas City in 1988 as an account executive.
He moved back to Des Moines in 1991 as a home office bond underwriter for Employers Mutual Casualty Co.
