There’s a new site on the World Wide Web and it is loaded with timely insurance information for Michigan residents. Web surfers can find the new website recently unveiled by the Insurance Institute of Michigan (IIM) at www.iiminfo.org.
Iiminfo.org includes information for consumers, media, legislators and members. This interactive Web site allows consumers to ask insurance questions online. The questions will be answered by the Insurance Information hotline consultant, who also operates a toll-free telephone service at the association.
Consumers preferring to call can dial (800) 777-8005. The service is operated 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Consumers can also request brochures on a number of insurance topics online. In addition, educators, as well as business, civic and service organizations, can request videotapes and speakers for their classrooms and meetings.
There is also access to a number of the latest IIM publications, as well as background information on insurance hot topics such as credit scoring discounts, the costs of homeowners and auto insurance and the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association. The latest auto theft, burglary, arson and fire statistics can be found on the site.
In the government affairs section, visitors can get breaking news on activity at the State Capitol impacting the insurance industry. There is also a bill watch that includes an overview of key insurance legislation and the position taken by the association. There is information about how to become involved in IIMPAC, the association’s political action committee. Insurance company representatives can learn more about the benefits of IIM membership on the site.
IIM is a nonprofit organization representing more than 80 property/casualty insurance companies and related organizations in Michigan. It was formed in 2003 by the merger of the Michigan Insurance Federation and the Insurance Information Association of Michigan. This new Web site will replace two previous sites maintained by the association.
