Society of Actuaries Names Bykerk President for 2008-2009 Term

Schaumburg, Ill.-based the Society of Actuaries (SOA) recently announced that Cecil D. Bykerk was elected president of the Society of Actuaries for the 2008 – 2009 term. Bykerk will serve as president-elect during the association’s 2007 – 2008 year and will begin his presidential duties at the SOA’s annual meeting to be held in October 2008 in Orlando, Fla.

As the SOA’s 60th president, Bykerk will work to continue to promote the new Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) credential, maximize the cooperative efforts between the U.S. actuarial organizations and promote the SOA and other actuarial organizations in North America, especially the U.S.

Bykerk currently serves as president of CDBykerk Consulting where he provides actuarial consulting and is also executive director of three high risk pools in Alaska, Iowa and Montana serving medically uninsurable individuals. He has been a fellow of the Society of Actuaries since 1973 and is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
